Doris "Jill" Adeline Henderson,
was a close friend of
Peter's daughter Valerie
in high school and college
( 1926-1935) Peter gave
her this plaque as a gift. She
said Peter told her she
was always bright &
cheerful, like a sunflower.

This Dining table was carved for Clara Discoll & her husband Hal Sevier and resided in Laguna Gloria (Now the Austin Museum of Art) for many years. It was later given to the Austin Art League. The table now rests in the Art House in downtown Austin on Congress Ave.

The Table is carved in oak and stained to golden oak color. The table is approximately 7.5 feet long and 3.5 wide. The fine carvings are in the Baroque style.

This 5 sided Humidor was a family owned piece carved by Mansbendel.

Mansbendel's daughter Valerie and her husband WT Williams were friends with Mr. & Mrs. LBJ and presented this as a gift in the 1960's.

Ladybird Johnson still owns the piece and it now resides at the LBJ Ranch in Johnson City.

A copper or brass bowl filled with coal would have been placed here to warm a room. Notice the burn marks on the wood.

The Hockaday School was started in 1913 by Miss Ela Hockaday in Dallas. Ten students enrolled in the school in 1913 on Hockaday’s first campus, located in a house on North Haskell Avenue in Dallas. (to read more click here)
